2024 Holiday Travel Gift Guide

October 15, 2024

With the holiday season fast approaching, it’s time to start thinking about gift shopping. We’ve gathered some ideas for the travelers in your life (and maybe for yourself, too!), and invite you to check out our list below for inspiration on what to surprise your loved ones with this year.

Apple AirTag

Apple AirTags and other Bluetooth tracking devices have become a popular way to keep track of luggage. Attach one to a bag or any other item to record its exact location via smartphone.

Passport Cover

Choose a special passport cover for your loved one featuring their favorite color, artwork, or pattern. Some companies, such as Northwind Supply and Danique Jewelry & Gifts, even offer customizable, genuine leather covers that can be engraved with a monogram or personalized message.

Audiobook or E-Book Subscription

We all know that reading (or listening to) a good book is a perfect way to spend a long flight. For a monthly price, Audible offers thousands of audiobooks, podcasts, and more. Similarly, membership to Kindle Unlimited allows unlimited access to bestselling e-books of all genres. If your loved one enjoys audiobooks or owns an e-reader or tablet, a gifted membership to one of these services will likely be appreciated both when traveling and in day-to-day life.

Travel Journal

A travel journal can be a thoughtful and special gift, especially if the recipient has a future trip planned. Pair it with scrapbooking supplies, journal prompts, or pens, and your loved one will be prepared to memorialize all their favorite travel experiences. This travel journal features built-in prompts and specially designed pages to help your loved one record up to 10 trips. Alternatively, some may prefer a simpler journal, like this one.

Reusable Water Bottle

A reusable water bottle may be one of the most practical items one can own; it keeps you hydrated and helps reduce unnecessary plastic waste. Many beloved brands exist – Stanley, Brümate, Hydro Flask, and Yeti, to name a few – but we’ve found that the best bottle types for traveling are spill-proof; have a built-in straw and handle; are vacuum-sealed; hold at least 24oz; and fit inside a traditional cupholder and/or the side pocket of a backpack.

Digital Picture Frame

Let your loved one show off their most treasured travel memories with a digital picture frame. Instead of displaying a single photo, these picture frames cycle through whole albums via an electronic screen.

Sleep Mask

Sleep masks make napping in planes, buses, hotels, and other unfamiliar environments much easier. For a luxurious touch, opt for a weighted, contoured, and/or warming sleep mask.

Kindle e-Reader

Instead of buying your loved one a few books, buy them a whole library by gifting them a Kindle e-reader. The popular Paperwhite version features an unlit screen that is easy on the eyes, and with its extended battery life and sturdy construction, it makes for a wonderful travel companion.

Compression Socks

Compression socks gently squeeze calves, feet, and ankles, increasing circulation and preventing soreness, stiffness, and swelling. They are especially useful for flights or any situation where you’re required to sit for long periods.

Mini Photo Printer

This nifty mini printer creates stickers of your favorite photos. It’s the perfect gift for scrapbookers; just connect your smartphone and choose what photo to print, then paste the photo sticker anywhere you’d like.

Noise-Canceling Earphones

From improving sleep to providing entertainment, noise-canceling earphones present multiple uses for travelers. Some popular brands include Bose, Sony, Apple, Earfun, Samsung, and Beats, all of which sell noise-cancelling headphones and earbuds.

Neck Pillow

This is a frequent flier’s best friend. Instead of the traditional donut-shaped neck pillow, opt for an ergonomic one, such as Cabeau’s Evolution Classic® Neck Pillow or the Trtl® Travel Pillow.

Smartwatch

Smartwatches provide easy access to phone notifications and allow you to answer texts, make calls, view map directions, track fitness and health, and more, all while keeping your hands free. FitBits offer some of the same functionality as a traditional smartwatch at a lower price point, but Samsung, Apple, and Google also manufacture their own watches. Try searching for an older generation to get one at a discount.

TSA-Approved Reusable Bag with Refillable Bottles

If you’ve ever heard your traveling friends and family complain about having to buy mini versions of all their favorite liquid products whenever they travel by plane, consider gifting them a TSA-approved clear toiletry bag that includes refillable bottles. It’s an inexpensive yet practical must-have.

Suitcase

A sturdy suitcase can make all the difference when traveling. Luggage options abound; check your favorite discount department stores, such as TJ Maxx, Kohl’s, and Macy’s, for deals on more expensive brands.

Portable Charger

Maps, menus, purchases, planning, and more – our phones endure a lot when we’re on the road. Keep it charged with a handy portable charger. If your loved one’s smartphone has MagSafe technology, you can purchase a cordless MagSafe-compatible version for easy and efficient charging.

We hope this information is helpful to you as you prepare for the upcoming holiday season. Happy shopping!
