August 16, 2021

While we're truly grateful and excited for the resumption of travel to several destinations during the Spring and Summer of 2021, we can't help but look forward to resuming our worldwide explorations in the near future. It is in that spirit of anticipation that we present below our top small group tours for this upcoming winter.  With trips ranging from idyllic isles and remote mountain villages to bustling world capitals and centers of culture, there’s truly something for everyone.

Click on the tour name or photo to read about it in more detail, and we'll see you on the road this winter!

Classic Safari: Kenya & Tanzania: “On safari” … it’s one of the most alluring phrases in all of travel. And Kenya and Tanzania count among the most alluring places to be “on safari.” As our small group travels from grasslands to highlands, to reserves and national parks, we enjoy intimate game drives, see stupendous landscapes, stay in excellent accommodations, and meet gracious local people.

Costa Rica’s Natural Heritage: In this small Central American democracy kissed by nature,we discover a nation’s wealth from cloud forest to rainforest; Central Valley to Pacific Coast. As Costa Rica presents its staggering display of biodiversity – pristine landscapes, unique microclimates, exotic flora and fauna – we enjoy a relaxed yet comprehensive exploration celebrating the country’s wide-ranging natural resources.

Egypt & the Eternal Nile: Accompanied by an expert Egyptian guide, this singular small group journey through antiquity travels from vibrant Cairo and the Great Pyramids to Abu Simbel and the Upper Nile for a fascinating cruise on Lake Nasser. Then: a classic voyage along the Lower Nile from Aswan to Luxor before returning to Cairo.

Israel: Timeless Wonders: Encounter a land of extraordinary beauty and belief, of spirit and story, history and hospitality. From modern Tel Aviv to scenic Upper Galilee, ancient Tiberias and storied Nazareth to Jerusalem, “City of Gold,” we engage all our senses in a small group encounter with this extraordinary and holy land, with a five-night stay in Jerusalem at the legendary King David hotel.

Machu Picchu to the Galapagos: They rank as two of South America’s greatest treasures, and a small group tour is the natural selection for both: the enigmatic ruins at Machu Picchu, where we overnight at an intimate on-site hotel; and the fascinating Galapagos Islands, Darwin’s “living laboratory,” for a four-night island-based adventure.

Moroccan Discovery: This land of dramatic contrasts invites us to encounter its ancient ruins and sacred mosques, endless desert and storied mountains, imposing kasbahs and spirited souks. As we travel from the imperial cities of Rabat, Fez, and Marrakech to the High Atlas and vast Sahara, we open our eyes, and hearts, to a truly foreign land, an age-old culture, and genuinely hospitable people.

Patagonian Frontiers: Chile by Land & Sea: Enjoy the rare privilege of face-to-face encounters with two of the world’s last great frontiers: the majestic fjords and glaciers of Southern Patagonia on a small-ship cruise; and the dramatic scenery of Torres del Paine on a three-night stay at the park. Along with a visit to Santiago, we discover the remarkable diversity of this South American nation.

Tanzania Adventure: From the depths of Ngorongoro Crater to the Serengeti plains; off-the-beaten-path Tarangire to exotic Zanzibar, our small group encounters the breadth of tranquil Tanzania’s riches: abundant wildlife, exquisite landscapes, and diverse cultures. It’s Africa as it was – and still is.

Treasures of Jordan: From times Biblical to Byzantine, Roman to recent, the land of Jordan has offered visitors a dazzling diversity of sights. Join us as we encounter wonders both of nature and of man: lively Amman and rose-red Petra, the Roman ruins of Jerash, the lunar-like landscape of Wadi Rum, and the restorative powers of the Dead Sea – enhanced by traditional hospitality and excellent lodgings.

Treasures of Peru: A land of treasures archaeological, cultural, and natural, Peru draws those eager to learn about the distant past – and encounter a fascinating present.  As our small group takes in some of the country’s highlights – Cuzco, Machu Picchu, Lake Titicaca – we marvel at the riches of an intriguing land somewhat off the beaten path.
